Energy Efficiency Programs
Cape Hatteras Electric Cooperative is excited to announce three new energy efficiency programs now being offered to its members. Secondary Refrigerator/Freezer Turn-In Beginning this month, CHEC will offer members $100 bill credits for recycling their energy wasting, secondary refrigerators on Hatteras Island. In addition to a bill credit, CHEC will come to your home and remove the unit for free! To qualify, the refrigerator or freezer must be:
ENERGY STAR® Appliance Rebate CHEC is now offering $25 bill credits to members who purchase ENERGY STAR® Appliances for their Hatteras Island home. By purchasing appliances that have earned the ENERGY STAR®, you can save up to $75 a year in energy costs while saving the environment. Rebates will be issued only for electric clothes washers, refrigerators, freezers, and dishwashers that carry the ENERGY STAR® label. Original receipt and ENERGY STAR® EnergyGuide label must be submitted to CHEC as verification of sale with completed application. Download your application today from chec.coop or pick one up at CHEC’s office in Buxton. Financing Available for Purchase of ENERGY STAR® Appliances Looking to make some energy efficient improvements to your home? CHEC members can now finance specific ENERGY STAR® Appliance purchases through Cape Hatteras Electric Cooperative. CHEC has established a $100,000 revolving loan account and is offering up to $6,000 per member, per year, while funds last, toward the purchase of new ENERGY STAR® Appliances. With a low interest rate of 5%, CHEC’s loan program can help you save more on your electric bill each month by purchasing the following approved, highly efficient appliances:
